A Podcast About Talking...
…talking the way we did before the internet. When you could not prove anyone right or wrong. All the expertise was contained in the people involved with the conversation. We hope you enjoy our conversations and as you listen, if you find yourself silently saying ”that don‘t sound right”, send us a comment. You’re one of us.

247. One Fish Just Won $6.2 Million
In this timely episode, Peter and Cecil sit down with Glenn to discuss the legendary 919-pound blue marlin that shattered tournament records and made headlines throughout the fishing world. The story gets even wilder when they discuss what was found inside the fish—a sailfish that added another layer to an already unbelievable catch. The conversation explores what it's really like to compete in the Big Rock, from running high-performance sportfishing boats 40-plus miles offshore to the Gulf Stream, to the strategy, teamwork, pressure, and excitement that come with chasing trophy billfish and life-changing prize money.
246. Japan's 'Monster Wolf' vs. Bears
Peter and Cecil venture into the wild world of bear deterrents, starting with a story from Japan that sounds almost too bizarre to be true: the Monster Wolf—a solar-powered, fur-covered robotic wolf equipped with flashing lights and more than 50 sounds designed to frighten away bears. They also swap personal stories about encounters with bears and other wildlife, share listener feedback, and dive into the fascinating ways humans try to coexist with animals while protecting themselves and their communities. #tdsrpodcast #ThatDontSoundRight #MonsterWolf #BearEncounters #JapanNews #Wildlife #BearSafety #OutdoorLife #NatureAndTechnology #RobotWolf #BearStories #FunnyPodcast #AnimalBehavior #CampingLife #WildlifeManagement
245. Your Car Is Already Being Tracked (Legally)
Peter and Cecil take a closer look at the growing network of automated license-plate readers known as Flock and the grassroots Deflock movement that tracks and maps those cameras. What starts as a discussion about crime prevention quickly expands into a larger conversation about privacy, surveillance, technology, and the trade-offs communities face in an increasingly monitored world. The hosts explore how modern camera systems can identify vehicle make, model, color, and distinguishing features, how neighborhoods and businesses use these networks, and why law enforcement agencies find them valuable for locating stolen vehicles and investigating crimes. They also examine concerns about data collection, surveillance creep, and the possibility of systems being used in ways never originally intended. #tdsrpodcast #ThatDontSoundRight #FlockCameras #Deflock #PrivacyMatters #Surveillance #LicensePlateReaders #Technology #DigitalPrivacy #CivilLiberties #PublicSafety #ModernLife #CommunitySafety #PodcastDiscussion #PrivacyVsSecurity
Meet Your Hosts
Cecil Davis
Born and raised in the small backwater town of Cary, NC, Cecil has risen to become one of the most successful podcasters on his cul-de-sac. After years of telling stories to employees that were trapped by the confines of the office, he has found a new outlet for his knowledge on an endless array of subjects. Finding a kindred spirit in Peter, the two have set out on a quest to rediscover the finer points of dorm room conversations. A pharmacist by trade, and a hobbyist at heart there is always something new to try or talk about.
Peter Beilman
Peter is a jack-of-all-trades and a master of fun! When he’s not co-hosting the podcast “That Don’t Sound Right,” he’s likely to be found camping, fishing, or backpacking in the great outdoors. And when he’s not exploring the wild, he’s busy restoring his (t)rusty 1972 International Scout (which, in a stroke of serendipity, was his first car and his dad’s brand new ride back in the day).
But don’t let his love of the great outdoors fool you – Peter’s also a degreed engineer with a license to drive a tractor-trailer. Talk about a versatile guy!
When he’s not busy being a podcast star, engineer, and outdoorsman, Peter can be found at home with his lovely wife and three amazing kids. So if you’re looking for a guy who can fix your car, plan your next camping trip, and make you laugh, Peter’s your man!
